A Laid Back Day

Today was another slow day. We just sat around and relaxed most of the day. I went on my walk as soon as I got up this morning though.

The day turned out to be bright and sunny with clear blue skies although windy. I talked to Betty on the phone and she said that Sturgeon Lake was very choppy today. It was quite a bit cooler than yesterday but no humidity and I sat outside and read for most of the day.

Till tomorrow.....

Mostly The Lindsay Central Exhibition

Here I am with the alpacas

This morning I got the lawn mowed for the first time since we've been here. It didn't need it during the summer as it was so dry but the last couple of weeks it's really grown.

Betty & Garth picked us up at 2:00 p.m. and away we went to the Lindsay Central Exhibition. The location is very close to the campground. We could hear the truck pulling contests last night from our RV as if it was next to us.

Probably the best part was the juggler, general jack of all trades guy who rode unicycles with a kid on his shoulders, juggled all sorts of stuff, walked a tight rope while juggling. All the usual stuff. The Exhibition is in a new location this year and the stage they had for the poor guy wasn't the best with the rafters very close to the top of his head when on his unicycle. They should rethink that for next year.

We walked around the midway and through the various buildings. Being this is in a farming community there were ducks, chickens, geese and turkeys as well as cows, horses and pigs.

We sat part way through a hypnotist performance but it was pretty boring so we left to get some food and since there was nowhere to sit went back and sat and watched more of the hypnotist.

We left around 7:00 p.m. I had walked enough for one day!

This was the ending of the show - he's riding on gravel

Photos of the Bed Raising, Laundry & Not Much Else

Today was a slow day. This morning we changed the bed in preparation for laundry. While the sheets were off I took some photos as one of the moderators on the Titanium forum has asked me to post them on the photos section of the forum. I decided to post them here too for those that are interested.

Betty dropped by this afternoon and went with me to do the laundry. She stayed and chatted for about 1/2 hour and then took off to do her errands.

It was quite warm today - 29C (85F), sunny and a very nice day. When I got back from laundry I read and had a nap while Gordon went down to the office to get our propane tank filled.

Later he went over to the Lindsay Central Exhibition to take some photos. We're planning to go again tomorrow afternoon with Betty & Garth.

Back in Lindsay

After walking, breakfast and net surfing, I went into Lindsay today to run some errands. We had purchased our prescriptions while in Ottawa yesterday so I needed to get them sent into our Extended Health Care Plan for reimbursement. While I was there I got a haircut (see below), photocopies my receipts and got them mailed off and got some groceries.

When I was coming in to the RV park, I noticed the door to the office was open so since we've decided to stay here till October 14th, I went in and paid Daphne and chatted with her for a while.

After unpacking the truck, I sat outside to read for a bit but they were putting skirting on the new park model near us so there was a lot of sawing and noise going on so I walked around the park and took a few photos. See the red portion of the tree across the lake with all the other trees still mostly green. Although days of late have felt like Fall, yesterday and today have been beautiful. It was over 27C (80F) today with bright sun, blue skies and a nice breeze.

While I was at the Old Car Show on Sunday, I photographed the cars that were made in the year I was born so here's some photos of cars made in 1948:

1948 Packard

1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster

1948 Cadillac Hearse (still being used)

Our Day in Ottawa and Return to Lindsay (Ontario)

Danica left at about 7:30 a.m. for her 8:30 a.m. class at University of Ottawa so we had said our goodbyes last night. I was up early enough to say goodbye to my sister before she left for work. We had breakfast, showered and chatted a bit with John then left for our 11:00 a.m. dental appointments. We were early so Gordon had a coffee at the shopping mall, Westgate, next door. Then he went to his dental and I went to my periodontist appointment. They are both in the same building so we made the appointments for the same time and it worked out well. We were both done by noon so made a few stops including picking up six months' worth of prescriptions, had lunch at the Food Court at the Bayshore Mall and left for Lindsay at 1:30 p.m.

We had a book on DVD yesterday on our way down but we left them with Danica as Gordon had put them all on his ipod (which he forgot to bring) so we listened to a Ray Stevens CD and a couple of Elvis Presley CDs on our return trip but it did seem to take forever. We stopped at a park at Silver Lake on Hwy 7 and took a few photos and then took a little detour on our way back just to see some different scenery. We arrived back around 5:30 p.m., unpacked and are now sitting at our computers as we're suffering from computer withdrawl!

Here's a photo that I took at the cottage on Sunday of a couple of ducks on the dock and one I took today at the park at Silver Lake.

Our Trip to Ottawa (Ontario)

My apologies for not posting yesterday. We had family night at my sister's last night with Margie & John, Danica and Nicholas. Becky was sick so Nick came on his own.

We left Lindsay just before 9:00 a.m. and arrived in Ottawa (Ontario) at 12:30 p.m. or so in lots of time for the 3:00 doctor's appointment. So we stopped by Vos Trailers where we bought our fifth wheel to pick up some fluroescent light bulbs and some insert thingies for the water hose. Then I stopped at the bank to get something notarized that I've been trying to do all summer. Since we were so early we dropped in at our chiropractor's office and he was able to take both of us right away. A short drop in to Walmart and then we were still early so stopped at Andrew Hayden Park and took some photos of the geese. Then off to the dermatologist where Gordon had a basal cell cancer removed from his arm.

I stopped to buy flowers pictured below for my sister and family and then went to John & Margie's arriving around 3:30 p.m. John was just on his way to meet Margie at the bus stop and then walk home with her. It's nice for her to be met and it's good for John to go out and walk and Jasper gets to go too!

They are a kind of variegated rose

Nick arrived at the same time we did. I had brought my old laptop for Danica so she spent most of the night figuring it out and deleting programs she didn't think she'd use.

We had a really good dinner of pork tenderloin, whipped potatoes, broccoli and mixed vegetables and Margie made one of my favorites for dessert - Raspberry Fluff. It's also a favorite of Nick's. After dinner, Margie put on a video for the dog, Jasper. Here he is watching TV.

Margie and I drove Nick home just before 10:00 p.m. and went to bed when we got back as Margie had to work today.

Another Birthday Today!

Happy 61st birthday to my hubbie! We had arranged to go for breakfast with Betty & Garth this morning so we met up at a local breakfast place around 11:00 a.m. Gordon still isn't feeling all that well so after breakfast he went back to the RV and I went to the Old Car Show in Bobcaygeon (Ontario) with Betty & Garth.

They had around 150 old cars there today. It was a beautiful day, warmer than yesterday and mostly sunny so it was enjoyable. Below is my favorite - a 1957 Thunderbird. It's really classy looking!

I took a lot of photos but unfortunately I don't have a lot of time tonight to go through them. Gordon came back to the cottage for dinner and we were late getting home. We have to go to Ottawa tomorrow for a couple of days so I had to get things packed up so we can head out early. We have some appointments in the afternoon and then more on Tuesday. We hope to return on Tuesday late afternoon.

So if I don't post tomorrow night, it's because I couldn't find wifi. My sister doesn't have wifi in her computer. We'll be staying at my younger sister, Margie's place in Ottawa.
