This morning was mostly sunny but warm and this afternoon was mostly cloudy but still fairly warm.
I didn't do much today, sat outside and read, spent time on the computer, read inside and went for a walk around the park and took some photos of the flowers that have come out in the last couple of days.

It was warm enough to sleep with the bedroom windows open last night. We did have a bit of rain but it was a very soft rain so it didn't come in the windows.
I woke up this morning to mostly sunshine at 19C (67F). Wow! This is more like it!
We went out to fill one of our propane tanks this morning and while we were out stopped to get Gordon a new vest. He has heavier ones for winter but he likes them for all the pockets and I had seen these last week at our Giant Tiger. We wound up getting two of them. They are Ducks Unlimited vests and look more like the photographer's vests that you see in camera shops but substantially cheaper.

We had an early lunch and since it was again a nice day (two in a row, wow) we decided to go for a drive around the area. We ended up northwest of Carleton Place and went through some little towns like Lanark and Middleville. We drove on some back roads including some that weren't paved. Pretty scenery, lots of trees and a deer (photo below)! I have to give credit to Gordon for the deer photo since he had to back the truck up and get it the right spot for me to take the photo.

Rail fence - I love rail fences! There are lots of them in this area.
We ended up in the pretty town of Perth. They have a store there that sells gluten free products called Foodsmiths. It's kind of a mini Whole Foods. We picked up a few things there, then stopped at the park in town for a photo or two before heading home. Below are some photos taken in the park. The river is the Tay River.
We reached a high of 25C (77F) today with a light breeze - a beautiful day!

Morris Island Conservation Area
Although it was cloudy when I got up this morning it was fairly warm at 14C (57F). I had a nice long walk and the sun was starting to come out from under the clouds by the time I got back.
After breakfast, I talked to my sister who is at the cottage in Lindsay for a while. I had mentioned to her on the phone that I'd like to go to Morris Island Conservation Area today and when Gordon got back from his morning photo shoot around the campground area, he said "it's a nice day, let's go to Morris Island". I had also thought about going to the Purdon Conservation Area to see the Showy Lady's Slipper Orchid but unfortunately they aren't out yet and might not be before we leave next weekend. Anyway, I digress.
We packed a lunch and away we went to Morris Island. On our way we scoped out the route that we'll take to get to the highway to take us to Lake Superior next week. It's a pretty good smooth road, thank goodness.
I thought it would be really 'buggy' but it wasn't too bad and our trusty 'Off' took care of any that were around. We spent the better part of three hours there.

With all that walking our backs weren't in good shape and we were ready to head home. We went through the picturesque little town of Almonte on our way back but I didn't take any photos.
When we got home it was time for a nap!

I was up at 6 a.m. Today was the day we took the 5er into Vos Trailers, our dealer, to get our water pump either fixed or replaced.
Again no walk as I spent that time packing up the RV. We left the campground about 8:20 a.m. and were in lots of time for our 9 a.m. appointment. We got our workorder done and then retired to the showroom where we found a wifi signal so we were happy campers!
The bad news is we needed a new water pump. Since we rarely use it we went for the $100 cheapie rather than the $300 that would have been like our original. Other than that they checked our shackle and it was in great shape. Our batteries were checked as well as one is original and the other is 4 years old and both checked out perfectly. After about 1 1/4 hours we were on our way back to Tranquil Acres and set up by about 11:15 a.m.
After lunch I headed in to Carleton Place to do some grocery shopping. I've been putting it off for days! I think I hit every grocery store in the town!
My back was killing me when I got home. I've got to get back to my morning walk tomorrow. Hopefully that will help.
I took some photos of the new irises that just came out in the last few days here in the campground. They are s pretty. My garden at our house was full of irises as they were my Dad's favourite flower and he had given me all different transplants of them. Sadly they stayed with the house when it was sold.
That's about it for today!

I woke up this morning to pouring rain, so no walk for me!When I checked my email I had an email from the lady at my former office that I had planned to go to see today saying 'do you really want to go out in this weather'. So I replied saying I'd come in one day next week before we leave the area.
So, plans canceled, what do I do today? I was sitting playing mindless Facebook games when I decided I'd defrost the freezer and clean the refrigerator. I had planned to do that later this week anyway so there's no time like the present. Ok that's done. Back to playing mindless games.
Eventually I got around to doing some vacuuming. I've wanted to vacuum behind the recliners but there are so many wires there from all our 'stuff' that Gordon has to be around to look after the wires so today was the day!
We were both doing some research today for our trip to Northern Ontario. I found a cool site that shows details of what's mile to mile along the route. Very useful site, to see it, click here.
There aren't many days when I don't go outside at all but today was one of them. Therefore I've borrowed one of Gordon's photos for my blog photo today. The photo is of one of the campground's irises.

Today was cloudy and we got rain in the afternoon. Our high was this morning at 13C (55F). It went downhill from there until late afternoon when we got some sun and the temperature got up to 14C (57F).
After breakfast and some computering, I got ready and went into Kanata (western Ottawa suburb) to meet up with some ladies I worked with at Nortel and have kept in touch with.
I got there first, of course, being a good Virgo I'm always early and I had even stopped at Home Depot and Walmart on the way. Nancy arrived shortly after and since the restaurant wasn't open yet we went to Payless where she purchased two pairs of shoes in about five minutes.
When the restaurant opened we went in and shortly after we were joined by Sylvia. I haven't seen Sylvia for about 9 years. We both worked at Nortel's Carling Campus and then I moved to their Corkstown Campus in 2000 so it was 1999 when I last saw her. She looks great!

We had ordered our lunch when Cheryl arrived. The only one missing was Sandy but her Mom is in the hospital so we weren't sure that she would make it.
We were there for a couple of hours. I had a salad with a filet of salmon on top. It was yummy and had no tomatoes or cheese so the only thing I couldn't eat were the mandarin oranges.
When I got home, I read for a bit then back on the computer where I chatted with Dee for a while. Today is her birthday - Happy Birthday, Dee!
